Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a widespread and global women’s health problem affecting around 50 million women worldwide. The majority are middle-aged or older, but younger women are also affected by SUI symptoms, for example in connection with pregnancy and after childbirth.

Historically, SUI has been treated with surgery, but not all women are able or willing to undergo such surgery. In addition, the vaginal mesh implants used in connection with the most common type of surgery have been prohibited to use in several large countries including the United States, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Efemia constitutes a much-appreciated complement to surgery, and Invent Medic notices a strong demand from health care entities and women in Europe, the United States and other parts of the world.
